What is the content of the Nava Plan?

The Nava Plan (1953) was France's military strategy. The content of the Nava Plan focused on concentrating forces, strengthening defenses, and shifting to offensive to turn the tide against the Viet Minh, hoping to achieve victory in the Indochina War within 18 months.

The content of the Nava Plan was implemented by the French army in three phases as follows:

- Autumn-Winter 1953: France used offensive tactics to strengthen its defensive stance in the North, withstanding attacks from the main forces of the Viet Minh, aiming to maintain control over this area.

- Spring-Summer 1954: After weakening the main forces of the Viet Minh in the North, France shifted focus to the South, launching strategic attacks in Interzone 5 and pacifying the entire South.

- Autumn-Winter 1954: After controlling the South, France planned to concentrate forces to attack the North, annihilating the main forces of the Viet Minh to achieve a decisive victory and turning Indochina into a U.S. military base.

Under  the General Education Program in History and Geography issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT on the content of Vietnam from 1945 to 1991 in the 9th-grade History and Geography curriculum:

- Recognize the main measures to build and consolidate the revolutionary government, solve economic, cultural, educational, military difficulties... in the first year after the August Revolution of 1945.

- Present the main features of the resistance against French colonial invasion by the people of the South.

- Explain the cause of the outbreak of the nationwide resistance against the French colonial invasion (1946).

- Recognize and explain the resistance line against the French colonial invasion of the Communist Party.

- Describe notable victories in military, economy, culture, diplomacy... during the resistance against the French colonialists.

- State the historical significance and the reasons for the victory of the resistance against the French colonialists (1945 - 1954).

- Introduce the notable achievements in building the socialist North (completing land reform, restoring and developing the economy, aiding the Southern revolution, opposing the destruction war of the American imperialists...).

- Describe notable military victories of the Southern people in the resistance against the United States, saving the country during 1954 - 1975 (Dong Khoi movement; defeating strategies of "Special War", "Local War" and "Vietnamization" by the United States; General Offensive and Uprising in 1968, 1972; Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975...).

- State the causes of victory and historical significance of the resistance against the United States, saving the country.

- Present the national unity regarding state, the struggle to protect the Fatherland in the Southwest border region and the Northern border region during 1975 - 1979, the struggle to protect sea and island sovereignty.

- State the political, economic, social situation of Vietnam during 1976 - 1985.

- Describe the Renewal policy of the Communist Party and the State, explain the reasons, state the results and significance of the Renewal process during 1986 - 1991.

- Evaluate the achievements and limitations in implementing the Renewal policy.

Thus, 9th-grade students in Vietnam must be able to give the cause of the outbreak of the resistance against France under the History and Geography curriculum.

What is the duration allocated for 9th-grade History in Vietnam?

Under the General Education Program in History and Geography issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the duration allocated for the subject is 105 lessons/grade/school year. The percentage of lessons allocated for content strands is in the table below:
