What are the basic contents of the policy on resistance against French colonialists (1946−1954) by the Communist Party of Vietnam?

The basic contents of the policy on resistance against French colonialists (1946−1954) proposed by our Communist Party of Vietnam are reflected through the guideline: “All people, all aspects, prolonged, self-reliance, and garnering international support.” Specifically:

- All people: The resistance is a cause of all the people, carried out with the participation of all classes of people, regardless of class, religion, or political party. The Communist Party of Vietnam clearly identified that the strength of total unity among the people was the decisive factor for the success of the resistance.

- All aspects: The resistance was implemented on all fronts, including:

+ Military: Defeating the enemy's offensives, occupations, and pacifications.

+ Political: Consolidating revolutionary power, mobilizing the entire population's forces, and gaining the support of the world's people.

+ Economic: Sabotaging the enemy's economy, building a self-sufficient economy to serve the resistance.

+ Culture: Promoting propaganda, educating the spirit of patriotism, and awakening revolutionary consciousness.

- Prolonged: The resistance was determined to be lengthy, as the initial force disparity between us and the enemy was significant. Therefore, we needed to persevere, gradually weakening the enemy, while consolidating and developing our forces to achieve the ultimate victory.

- Self-reliance and seeking international assistance:

+ Self-reliance: Determining that the destiny of the nation must be decided by the Vietnamese people themselves. Self-reliance and self-strength are foundational elements to maintain and develop our forces.

+ Seeking international support: In the context of international changes after World War II, our Communist Party of Vietnam aimed to gain the support of socialist countries, national liberation movements, and peace-loving people globally to enhance our strength.

This policy not only suited the historical reality of the Vietnamese nation in the resistance against French colonialism but also clearly demonstrated the insightful and skillful leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, leading the resistance from one victory to another, culminating in the historic victory at Dien Bien Phu in 1954, ending the colonial rule of the French on our land.
