The duties of physical education teachers and lecturers in Vietnam are stipulated in Circular 48/2020/TT-BGDDT.

1. Duties of physical education teachers and instructors in Vietnam

According to Clause 1, Article 6 of Circular 48/2020/TT-BGDDT, the duties of physical education teachers and instructors in Vietnam include:

- Advising school leaders on diversifying forms of sports activities; being the core in organizing sports activities; managing, directing, and guiding the establishment of sports clubs, and maintaining and developing the sports movement in schools.

- Based on the needs of learners and the actual conditions of the school, actively advising on mobilizing resources of physical education teachers and instructors of the school and inviting external instructors to participate in professional guidance to effectively organize sports activities.

- Identifying and nurturing students with sports talents to participate in local, national, and international sports competitions; proposing specific solutions to support students with weak physical fitness, those who do not meet the physical education program's standards, or those who do not meet physical fitness evaluation and classification standards; students with congenital diseases exempted from or participating in training with appropriate content and forms.

- Performing other duties of educators according to current regulations.

2. Rights of physical education teachers and instructors in Vietnam

Rights of physical education teachers and instructors in Vietnam according to Clause 2, Article 6 of Circular 48/2020/TT-BGDDT are as follows:

- Being trained, fostered, and improving knowledge, proficiency in professional skills, methods, forms, and organizing skills for sports activities in schools.

- Being facilitated to participate in coaching the school's sports teams.

- Enjoying the rights and policies of teachers, instructors, and other policies in the field of physical education and sports according to current regulations.

3. Guidance on education to enhance participation skills in sports activities in Vietnam

Guidance on education to enhance participation skills in sports activities in Vietnam according to Article 5 of Circular 48/2020/TT-BGDDT are as follows:

- Guiding and educating to raise awareness about ensuring the safety of both teachers and learners in physical education and sports activities.

- Integrating with related projects and programs to ensure reasonable nutrition, enhancing physical activities to improve health, height, and physical fitness of students.

- Enhancing the application of information technology to collect exercise and sports routines to diversify the content and forms of training. Instructing students and parents on how to access information on the internet safely and effectively for physical education and sports activities.

- Guiding and fostering physical education teachers and instructors in knowledge and skills to identify and nurture students with sports talents in schools.

- Organizing consultation and orientation for students to participate in training and competing in sports to enhance physical fitness and development.

4. Regulations on Training and Competing in Sports in Schools in Vietnam

Regulations on training and competing in sports in schools according to Article 4 of Circular 48/2020/TT-BGDDT are as follows:

- Establishing and regularly maintaining talent teams for each sport as the core of the school's sports activities.

- Organizing and regularly maintaining morning exercises, mid-session exercises; effectively utilizing the school's facilities and integrating training with music to create a joyful and stimulating atmosphere, attracting students to actively participate.

- Organizing at least one sports competition activity for students annually, ensuring that the content and form of competition are suitable for the psychological and physiological characteristics of the age group of learners and the school's facility conditions; sending students to participate in domestic and international sports competitions.
