On July 23, 2020, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam issued Directive 29/CT-TTg on certain urgent solutions for wildlife management.
To ensure strict enforcement of the laws governing the management of wildlife, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam directs:
- Suspend the importation of live or dead wildlife, eggs, larvae, parts, and derivatives of wildlife species (with the exception of aquatic species used for production, processing for food, feed which have been declared in accordance with the law; wildlife parts that have been processed, treated for pharmaceutical purposes, used as raw materials for production or finished products) until new directives from the Government or special cases approved by the Government;- Ministries, according to their functions and delegated authorities, shall review the legal document system to propose amendments and supplements to the authority's penalty system for illegal wildlife consumption;- All citizens, especially Vietnamese official and public employees and their relatives, shall not participate in hunting, capturing, purchasing, selling, transporting, slaughtering, consuming, storing, or advertising wildlife illegally;- Resolutely eliminate illegal wildlife markets and trading points;- ……
