Below is the content of the latest regulations on cases eligible for postponement of military service in Vietnam in 2025.

Cases of temporary postponement of military service in Vietnam in 2025

Cases for postponement of military service in 2025 are stipulated in Clause 1, Article 41 of the Military Service Law 2015 and guided by Clause 1, Article 5 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP, including:

- Individuals who do not meet the health requirements for service as concluded by the Health Examination Council.

- The sole laborer responsible for directly supporting family members who are unable to work or are underage; families that have suffered severe human and material losses due to accidents, natural disasters, or dangerous epidemics, as certified by the commune-level People's Committee.

- One child of a war invalid or a person affected by toxic chemicals with a reduced working capacity from 61% to 80%.

- Having a sibling who is a non-commissioned officer or soldier serving in the military; or a non-commissioned officer or soldier fulfilling their duty in the People's Police.

- Persons under migration or resettlement within the first 3 years to particularly difficult communes under State-approved socio-economic development projects decided by provincial-level People's Committees or higher.

- Officials and public employees, and youth volunteers ordered to work in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions as prescribed by law.

- Individuals currently studying at general educational institutions; undergoing full-time university level education at higher education institutions, or full-time college-level education at vocational education establishments during one course of a training program.

Note: Citizens granted a postponement for enlistment shall be called to enlist if the reason for postponement no longer exists.

Military service health examination schedule for 2025 in Vietnam

As stipulated in Clause 4, Article 40 of the Military Service Law 2015, the health examination period is from November 1 to December 31 every year.

Thus, the military service health examination schedule will commence from November 1, 2024, to the end of December 31, 2024. The health examination summons is given to citizens 15 days before the examination date as regulated in Clause 2, Article 40 of the Military Service Law 2015.

10 diseases exempt from military service registration in 2025 in Vietnam

Subjects exempted from military service registration, as stipulated in Article 14 of the Military Service Law 2015, include:

Individuals with disabilities, those with serious diseases, mental disorders, or chronic diseases as prescribed by law.

In Appendix I, issued with Circular 105/2023/TT-BQP, 10 diseases are listed for exemption from military service registration and are not admitted into the regular army, including:
