New guidelines on nationwide land statistics in Vietnam

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam issued Circular 08/2024/TT-BTNMT dated July 31, 2024, stipulating regulations on land statistics, examination, and the development of current land use maps in Vietnam.

New guidelines on nationwide land statistics in Vietnam

The nationwide land statistics in Vietnam will be guided as follows:

- Preparation work:

+ Develop directives for the Provincial People's Committees to implement land statistics;

+ Collect files, documents, and data related to the previous land inventory and the nationwide land statistics of the previous year.

- Receive land statistics results from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security; receive land statistics results from provincial levels and guide the rectification and completion of data, report land statistics results (if any), and also request the Provincial People’s Committees to review and announce the local land statistics results.

- Process and compile nationwide land statistics data and prepare tables as prescribed in points a, b, c, d, and dd  clause 1 Article 5 of Circular 08/2024/TT-BTNMT.

- Analyze and assess the current land use status, the causes of land changes in the land statistics year compared to the previous year's land statistics data and the previous period's land inventory, propose solutions to enhance management and improve the efficiency of nationwide land use.

- Develop a nationwide land statistics report with the main content:

+ The status of organizing and implementing land statistics;

+ Assessment of current land use status, analysis of land changes in the land statistics year;

+ Proposals and recommendations to strengthen land use management.

- Complete and publish the nationwide land statistics results as prescribed in clause 4 Article 59 of the Land Law 2024.

More details can be found in Circular 08/2024/TT-BTNMT which takes effect in Vietnam from August 1, 2024.

Circular 27/2018/TT-BTNMT on land statistics, examination, and the making of current land use maps will expire from the date Circular 08/2024/TT-BTNMT takes effect in Vietnam.
