On August 05, 2024, the Minister of Planning and Investment issued Decision 1711/QD-BKHDT on the plan for the industrial production price survey.

Specifically, the industrial production price survey is a sample survey under the National Statistical Investigations Program conducted to serve the following main purposes:

- Compiling the production price index indicators under the National Statistical Indicator System.

- Compiling and ensuring information on the industrial production price index for provision to the Communist Party, the National Assembly, the Government of Vietnam, ministries, sectors, and localities to manage, operate, build, and direct the implementation of national target programs and compile some aggregate statistical indicators at comparative prices.

- Meeting the information needs on the fluctuation of industrial production prices to help business producers analyze production and business operation results, calculate economic efficiency, and sign contracts.

The industrial production price survey will be conducted across 63 provinces and centrally-run cities (province, city) with selected survey units in 4 economic sectors according to the Vietnamese Standard Industrial Classification (VISIC 2018), specifically:

- Sector B: Mining.

- Sector C: Processing and manufacturing industries.

- Sector D: Production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam, and air conditioning.

- Sector E: Water supply; waste and wastewater management and treatment activities.

Regarding the time, the point of the industrial production price survey is as follows:

- Survey point: The industrial production price survey point is on the 5th day of each month.

For survey units that do not sell industrial products on the survey day, the price of the nearest day before or after the 5th day of the survey month but not later than the 12th day of each month will be taken.

- Survey time: From the 5th to the 12th day of each month.

The industrial production price survey will collect the following information:

- General information of the survey unit: Name of the survey unit, tax code (if any), address, phone number, email of the survey unit.

- Information on industrial product prices including: Product name, specifications, grade, specific label of each product; price unit; product price unit.

The conduct of the industrial production price survey must ensure the following requirements:

- The organization, information collection, data processing, aggregation, publication, and storage of survey information must be conducted seriously, in accordance with the Survey Plan.

- Ensure to collect complete, accurate, and prompt information, correct survey unit, as specified in the Survey Plan.

- Protect the confidentiality of information collected from survey subjects as per the Statistics Law.

- Manage and use the survey funds according to current policies, ensuring efficient and economical use.

- The survey results must meet the requirements of both domestic and international users, ensuring international comparison.
