Maintenance and Care of Automatic and Semi-automatic Fire Alarm and Fire Fighting Systems

On October 28, 2014, the Ministry of Public Security issued Circular 52/2014/TT-BCA on the management, preservation, and maintenance of firefighting and prevention equipment.

Circular 52/2014/TT-BCA stipulates the maintenance and preservation of automatic and semi-automatic fire alarm and extinguishing systems in fire prevention and fighting as follows:

Maintenance and Preservation of Automatic and Semi-Automatic Fire Alarm Systems

  1. Automatic and semi-automatic fire alarm systems must undergo trial runs to check quality and can only be put into operation after trial results show that the system fully meets design requirements and related standards.

  2. After commissioning, automatic and semi-automatic fire alarm systems must be inspected at least twice a year to evaluate the quality and operational capability of the devices within the system.

  3. Periodic maintenance is carried out according to the environmental conditions where the system is installed and the manufacturer's instructions, but maintenance of the entire system must be organized at least once every two years.

Note: The maintenance of automatic and semi-automatic fire alarm systems must comply with the manufacturer's instructions and TCVN 5738:2001.

Maintenance and Preservation of Automatic and Semi-Automatic Fire Extinguishing Systems

  1. Automatic and semi-automatic fire extinguishing systems must undergo trial runs to check quality and can only be put into operation after trial results show that the system fully meets design requirements and related standards.

  2. After commissioning, automatic and semi-automatic fire extinguishing systems must be maintained periodically once a year to evaluate the quality and operational capability of the devices within the system.

  3. The maintenance of automatic and semi-automatic fire extinguishing systems must comply with the manufacturer's guidelines and sector-specific standards (TCVN 6101:1996, TCVN 6305:1997, TCVN 71611:2002, TCVN 7336:2003, and other related standards).
