Circular 52: Maintenance and Preservation of Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment

Recently, the Ministry of Public Security has issued Circular 52/2014/TT-BCA on the management, preservation, and maintenance of fire prevention and fighting equipment.

Article 17 Circular 52/2014/TT-BCA stipulates the regular preservation and maintenance of uniforms and personal protective equipment specifically as follows:

  1. Cleaning uniforms and personal protective equipment

- Uniforms and personal protective equipment must be cleaned inside and outside, and must be dried to prevent mold; arranged neatly in the prescribed place;- Isolation gas masks, gas filter masks, gas filter respirators must be thoroughly cleaned; check the gas level in the tank and the tightness of the valve, mask, and must be filled with gas before being stored.

  1. Preservation and maintenance

- Insulated boots and gloves, thermal clothing, chemical protective clothing, radiation protective clothing must be cleaned with a soft cloth soaked in warm water and placed in the designated area. Specifically, thermal clothing must not be folded but hung to avoid wrinkles;- Gas refilling machine for gas masks must be regularly cleaned, specifically: Clean the entire machine body, air filter, base, stand, gas refilling pipe, exhaust chamber, engine air filter, gas tank; adjust engine speed, engine start cable, pressure gauge;- Pants, shirts, helmets, boots, gloves, belts, insulated boots and gloves, thermal clothing, gas filter respirators, rubber parts of the mask must be arranged neatly. When arranging for storage, the heavier type should be placed underneath and lighter ones on top. Between each type of uniform or equipment, place a layer of soft, thin paper and mothballs to prevent cockroaches and termites;- For the engine of the gas refilling machine for gas masks, before starting, turn on the electrical switch to kickstart the machine; if it does not start after 3 attempts, check and do not continuously attempt to start for prolonged periods. If the machine makes unusual noises, investigate the cause and repair immediately.
