Area and interior standards of official housing of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam

Official housing is housing arranged for those eligible to rent official housing during their tenure or work period as stipulated by the Housing Law 2023.

On July 24, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg regarding Area and interior standards of official housing. Article 6 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg sets forth the Area and interior standards of official housing of the Ministry of National Defense as follows:

(1) Members of the Politburo, Members of the Secretariat, the Minister of National Defense, Chairman of the General Department of Politics, officers holding the rank of General are allocated to rent public service villas in accordance with the standards specified in Clause 2, Article 4 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg.

(2) The Chief of the General Staff is allocated to rent public service villas according to the regulations in Point a, Clause 1, Article 3 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg, including:

- Land area for construction from 300 m^2^ to under 350 m^2^;

- The maximum budget for interior furniture not attached to the official housing as specified in this clause is 300 million VND.

(3) Central Committee Member, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Director, Political Commissar of the National Defense Academy, Admiral of the Navy, and equivalent ranks; officers holding the highest military rank of Senior Lieutenant General are allocated to rent official housing as specified in Clause 4, Article 4 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg;

(4) Heads and Political Commissar of General Departments; Commanders and Political Commissar of Military Zones, Services, Border Guard; Vice-Admiral, Rear-Admiral of the Navy, and equivalent ranks; officers holding the rank of Lieutenant General, Major General are allocated to rent official housing as specified in Clause 2, Article 5 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg;

(5) Division Commander, Division Political Commissar; Commanders and Political Commissar of Military Commands and Provincial Border Guard and equivalent ranks; officers holding the highest military rank of Colonel, Senior Colonel are allocated to rent official housing as specified in Clause 3, Article 5 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg;

(6) Battalion Commander, Battalion Political Commissar and equivalent ranks; officers holding the highest military rank of Lieutenant Colonel are allocated to rent official housing as specified in Clause 4, Article 5 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg;

(7) Company Commander, Company Political Commissar and equivalent ranks; officers holding military ranks up to Major, officers in lower ranks; professional soldiers are allocated to rent one of the following two types of official housing:

- Apartments with a usable area from 45 m^2^ to under 60 m^2^ in accordance with the regulations in Point c, Clause 1, Article 3 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg;

- Houses with a usable area from 48 m^2^ to under 60 m^2^ in accordance with the regulations in Point d, Clause 1, Article 3 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg;

- The maximum budget for interior furniture for official housing as specified in this clause is 120 million VND.

(8) Officials, workers, and public employees in national defense, cipher workers, other workers in cipher organizations receiving salaries from the state budget under the Ministry of National Defense who are transferred, rotated, or seconded to work in remote, isolated areas, areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, border areas, and islands, are allocated to rent houses as specified in Clause 5, Article 5 Decision 11/2024/QD-TTg.
