The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs has submitted a proposal seeking opinions on a plan for employees to swap holidays so that the holiday periods can be continuous and extended.
Given the fact that major holidays such as April 30 - May 1 and New Year fall interwoven with working days in the week, it becomes quite inconvenient for workers to enjoy a complete holiday. The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) has drafted a proposal to swap weekly days off during holidays in 2019 for consultation from relevant Ministries and sectors.
To be specific, regarding New Year holiday, the Ministry proposes working on Saturday (January 5, 2019) to have a day off on Monday (December 31, 2018) so that the holiday can be continuous from Saturday (December 29, 2018) to the end of Tuesday (January 1, 2019) (a continuous 4-day holiday).
Regarding the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the Ministry proposes swapping the day off on Monday (April 29) and working on Saturday (May 4) since Monday is interwoven between the weekly day off and the 2 holiday days. The total holiday will be a continuous 5-day break.
Note, these proposed plans apply only to officials and public employees, and workers working at administrative agencies, public service units, political organizations, and socio-political organizations.
The contents mentioned above are based on Official Dispatch 1400/LDTBXH-ATLD issued on April 11, 2018.
