Women's Union is supported by People's Committees at all levels with operating costs in Vietnam

This is the noteworthy content in Decree 56/2012/ND-CP of the Government prescribing responsibilities of ministries, central authorities and people's committees at all levels for ensuring the participation in the state management by the Vietnam women's union at all levels, issued on July 16, 2012.

Article 4 of Decree 56/2012/ND-CP stipulates the responsibilities of People's Committees at all levels in ensuring the participation in the state management by the Vietnam women's union at all levels as follows:

- To invite Women's Unions of the same levels:

  • To join the elaboration, amendment and supplementation of mechanisms, policies, programs and plans on socio-economic development and social order and safety related to the rights and interests of women, children and gender equity under law;
  • To coordinate with specialized agencies under People's Committees in propagating, disseminating and educating policies and laws;
  • To join as official members of consultative organizations (Councils, Committees, Steering Committees, etc.) related to women, children and gender equity;
  • To join teams inspecting and supervising matters related to the rights and interests of women and children, gender equity, prevention and control of domestic violence, and related fields under law.

- To coordinate with Women's Unions of the same levels in organizing meetings to gather opinions on the implementation of undertakings, laws and policies; studying, considering and promptly handling acts of infringing upon the rights and lawful and legitimate interests of women and children, and other matters under law.

- To create favorable conditions for activities of Women's Unions of the same levels, such as supporting funds and working conditions and facilities, fund raising for the Union, organizing production and service activities, and supporting women in settling social issues related to women's advancement and equity in accordance with the state's law and policies.
