Here is the notable content from Circular 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that students must achieve upon graduation at intermediate and college levels for majors and professions in the field of mining engineering and other technical fields in Vietnam.
Minimum Knowledge Volume for mining construction engineering at the College Level is 2,500 Hours (Illustrated Image)
Circular 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulates that mining construction engineering technology at the college level is a profession where the practitioner performs tasks of excavating and supporting tunneling systems with any slope, area ≥ 1.5 m² in rock and soil to support the mining process by underground methods, meeting level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework. The minimum required knowledge is 2,500 hours in Vietnam (equivalent to 90 credits).
The mining construction engineering technician primarily works in underground shafts in mineral mines by underground methods, with main tasks including: breaking rocks and minerals by mechanical or drilling and blasting methods; loading rocks and minerals using manual tools or operating mechanical equipment; transporting rocks and minerals by manual carts, winches, conveyors, scrapers, or electric trains; transporting materials using manual tools or specialized equipment; supporting underground tunnels with various types of supports: wood, metal, anchor or reinforced concrete; construction tasks including formwork installation, rebar setup, and technical procedures for pouring concrete for tunnels and underground works of the mine; reinforcing weakened supports; repairing supports or sections of the tunnel with damaged or excessively deformed supports; participating in handling incidents during production such as tunnel collapses, gas explosions, or underground water outbreaks.
The mining construction engineering technician works in shifts, in conditions without natural light and with harsh environmental factors such as temperature, air, noise, dust... Some stages in production are quite strenuous and dangerous, and the work is collective; therefore, the worker must be physically fit, have passion for the profession, and possess sufficient competency and skills to perform the tasks, with strong professional craftsmanship and the ability to organize group work effectively.
More details can be found in Circular 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH which comes into force in Vietnam from February 10, 2019.
