Vietnam: 05 steps to update and evaluate university-level training programs

The Ministry of Education and Training is collecting comments on the Draft Circular providing standards training programs of higher education in Vietnam.

The Draft Circular specifies 05 steps to update and evaluate training programs for higher education levels, specifically as follows:

Step 1: Planning to update and evaluate training programs;

Step 2: Gather information and evidence related to the need to update the training program (changes in regulations of the state and training institutions on training programs; new advances in the field of science in the branch or specialty; socio-economic issues, research results related to training programs; feedback from stakeholders; changes in coursework or professional content, employment rate of graduates, risks to the implementation of training programs, etc.);

Step 3: Evaluate and develop an evaluation report on the effectiveness of the ongoing training program (meeting the defined output standards and goals; the consistency and cohesion between the program content, testing and assessment methods, resources for learning and teaching, etc.); compare between research results on training program development requirements and the level of satisfaction of the current training program; expect impact of changing and updating training programs;

Step 4: Draft the contents that need to be revised and updated the training program and submitted to the Scientific and Training Council for consideration and approval;

Step 5: The Science and Training Council shall consider and approve the revised and updated contents of the training program and submit it to the Head of the training institution for promulgation of the revised and supplemented training program. If necessary, the Science and Training Council shall decide on the appraisal of the revised and supplemented training program according to Article 7 of this Regulation.
