Vietnamese citizens aged 14 and above are eligible to apply for the issuance, renewal, or reissuance of the Citizen Identification Card. So, what is the validity period of the Citizen Identification Card?

- The Citizen Identification card must be renewed when the citizen reaches 25 years old, 40 years old, and 60 years old.- In the case where the Citizen Identification card is issued, renewed, or reissued within 2 years before the aforementioned specified ages, it will still be valid until the next card renewal age.
The format of the Citizen Identification card stipulated in Article 3 of Circular 61/2015/TT-BCA is applied from January 1, 2016.
Local authorities that do not yet have the conditions to issue, renew, or reissue the Citizen Identification card according to the format specified in Circular 61, shall continue to implement according to the Decision 998/2001/QD-BCA(C11) but must uniformly implement the format specified in Circular 61/2015/TT-BCA no later than January 1, 2020.
