On July 03, 2024, Hanoi issued Decision 587/QD-TTg approving the project “Development of breeding housing and waste treatment industry until 2030”

To develop a circular animal husbandry model to improve ecological efficiency in animal husbandry in Vietnam

According to Decision 587/QD-TTg in 2024, the contents, tasks, and solutions for development of breeding housing and waste treatment industry until 2030 in Vietnam have been outlined as follows:

* Conduct research, design, and develop an auxiliary industry to manufacture and produce modern, synchronized livestock facility equipment, mitigating environmental pollution

- Research, design, manufacture, and test livestock facility equipment and livestock waste treatment equipment for farm-scale livestock farming.

- Develop content and training programs related to livestock facilities and waste treatment in livestock farming.

* Research innovation in technology regarding livestock processes and livestock facilities towards automation.

- Enhance capabilities and develop documentation for good agricultural practices (VietGAP), organic livestock farming, and biosecurity certification procedures.

- Research the development and innovation of livestock facilities to ensure biosecurity and disease safety in livestock operations.

* Encourage the application of high technology, advanced technology, and new technology for livestock waste treatment

- Research the development of high technology, new technology, advanced technology, and clean technology in livestock waste treatment.

- Apply technical advancements in livestock waste management towards proactive prevention.

* Develop a circular animal husbandry model to improve ecological efficiency in animal husbandry in Vietnam

- Evaluate and perfect the circular animal husbandry process for key livestock tied to the VietGAP model, biosecurity for sustainable development, and prolonging the livestock value chain.

- Convert livestock waste into organic fertilizer production models or models for raising insects and organisms used as livestock and aquaculture feed to improve ecological efficiency in animal husbandry in Vietnam.

Thus, among the tasks mentioned, there is an emphasis on developing a circular animal husbandry model to improve ecological efficiency in animal husbandry in Vietnam through perfecting the circular animal husbandry process for key livestock tied to the VietGAP model and biosecurity for sustainable development, and converting livestock waste into organic fertilizer production models or models for raising insects and organisms used as livestock and aquaculture feed.

Objectives of the Scheme

* General Objectives

- Modernize livestock facility equipment and technology to meet the requirements for biosecure, disease-safe, environmentally friendly livestock farming that treats animals humanely.

- Improve livestock waste management and treatment capabilities to protect the environment and effectively use livestock waste for various purposes.

* Specific Objectives

- Achieve an 80% localization rate based on the value of livestock facilities and equipment systems.

- Ensure 70% of medium-scale and large-scale farm livestock farming uses modernly equipped facilities; ensure 70% of pig and poultry farms have closed facilities.

- Maximize the implementation of livestock waste treatment measures and the construction of various biogas projects by livestock households.

- Achieve the highest level of collection, treatment, and utilization of organic waste from livestock operations for various purposes.
