The title of the Vietnamese document translates to English in the style of a legal document as follows: "Trainee Bailiff Must Keep a Log Throughout the Internship Period"

This important provision is stipulated in Circular 05/2020/TT-BTP guiding Decree 08/2020/ND-CP on the organization and operation of bailiffs, issued by the Ministry of Justice on August 28, 2020.

According to Article 8 of Circular 05/2020/TT-BTP, which stipulates the creation of an internship logbook, reporting on internship results; and the inspection and supervision of internships as follows:

- The intern shall keep an internship logbook to record all tasks related to the content of the internship that they perform throughout the internship period. The internship logbook must be weekly confirmed by the supervising Bailiff and confirmed by the Bailiff Office at the end of the internship period.

- Within 15 days from the end of the internship period, the intern must submit the internship logbook and internship result report to the Department of Justice where the internship was registered for review and recognition of internship completion. Within 07 working days from the receipt of the internship logbook and internship result report, the Department of Justice shall notify the intern in writing regarding the completion status of the internship; in case of non-recognition, the Department of Justice shall notify the intern in writing, clearly stating the reasons.

If the intern submits the internship logbook and result report beyond the stipulated time without a legitimate reason, the Department of Justice will not recognize the completion of the internship and shall notify the intern in writing, clearly stating the reasons.

The intern has the right to appeal the decision of the Department of Justice regarding the non-recognition of the internship completion.

- The internship result report must include the following main contents:

- The number, content, legal basis, and outcome of the tasks assigned and guided by the supervising Bailiff;- Knowledge of the law, professional skills as a Bailiff regulated in Article 7 of this Circular, and the experience gained from the internship process;- The exercise of rights and obligations of the intern;- Difficulties, obstacles, and suggestions (if any).

Note: The internship result report must include comments from the supervising Bailiff and confirmation from the Bailiff Office regarding the internship process and results.

- The Department of Justice shall inspect and supervise the internship of the intern, the guidance of the intern by the Bailiff, and the acceptance of the intern by the Bailiff Office as prescribed in this Circular and other relevant laws.

If necessary, the Ministry of Justice may request the Department of Justice to provide the internship logbook or may itself or request the Department of Justice to verify and clarify the intern's internship.
