On May 21, 2024, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Official Telegram 51/CD-TTg on rectifying and strengthening occupational safety and hygiene work.

To promptly rectify occupational safety and hygiene work and ensure absolute safety for employees, the Prime Minister of Vietnam requests:

(1) Minister of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs to

- Strengthen state management according to assigned functions and tasks; regularly inspect, supervise, and ensure strict implementation of policies and laws on occupational safety and hygiene, especially at key projects and in high-risk areas for occupational accidents, at enterprises that use machinery and equipment with strict requirements for safety and occupational hygiene.

- Urgently develop and submit to the competent authorities for issuance a Plan for implementing Directive 31-CT/TW dated March 19, 2024 of the Party Central Committee, 13th term, on continuing to enhance the Party's leadership in occupational safety and hygiene work in the new situation.

(2) Minister of Information and Communications, General Director of Vietnam Television, Radio Voice of Vietnam, and Vietnam News Agency to strengthen propaganda work and raise awareness among employers and employees about occupational safety and hygiene; publicly disclose violations through mass media; and highlight advanced examples, valuable experiences, and lessons in ensuring national occupational safety and hygiene.

(3) Ministers, Heads of ministerial agencies, Government agencies to

- Direct subordinate units, and enterprises operating in the management field to carefully review regulations, standards, and procedures on occupational safety and hygiene in production and business activities, promptly address existing limitations and shortcomings, and ensure absolute safety for employees.

- Strengthen inspections and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate regulations on occupational safety and hygiene, especially those involved in key projects, and enterprises with high risks of occupational accidents.

(4) Chairpersons of Provincial People's Committees in centrally-governed provinces and cities to

- Enhance the responsibility of leaders for occupational safety and hygiene work, considering it a regular and long-term task of great significance in local socio-economic development and ensuring human security.

- Encourage businesses to proactively invest in and implement preventive measures, strengthen self-inspection, supervision, and exercise to minimize occupational accidents and occupational diseases.

- Regularly inspect compliance with regulations on occupational safety and hygiene; promptly discover and replicate effective models and practices, and strictly handle violations.
