The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) recently promulgated Circular 47/2018/TT-MOLISA stipulating the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at intermediate and college levels in disciplines and professions within the field of mechanical engineering.

As regulated in the minimum knowledge volume, competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from the intermediate level, the associate degree level in the garment equipment repair industry, issued together with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum skills that learners must achieve after graduating from the garment equipment repair industry at the intermediate level are as follows:
- Able to use measurement equipment, maintenance tools, repair tools, and restore mechanical parts and mechanical structures in garment equipment;
- Able to develop inspection, maintenance, repair, adjustment procedures, and replacement plans for parts, part assemblies in single-needle machines, double-needle machines, buttonhole machines, button-sewing machines, and overlock machines according to technical requirements;
- Able to maintain, repair, and adjust the mechanical parts of single-needle machines, double-needle machines, buttonhole machines, button-sewing machines, overlock machines according to technical standards;
- Able to disassemble, assemble, maintain, repair the power circuit, control circuit, motor, and solenoid in electronic single-needle machines, electronic double-needle machines, ensuring technical requirements;
- Able to process, assemble and adjust hemming gauges, edge-sealing gauges, continuous hem gauges on single-needle machines according to technical requirements;
- Able to promptly detect and handle common faults in single-needle machines, double-needle machines, buttonhole machines, button-sewing machines, overlock machines, and gauges, jigs in the garment industry;
- Able to organize the garment equipment sales process and implement technology transfer for garment factories;
- Proper use of personal protective equipment and basic fire prevention tools;
- Able to read and understand some parameters of commonly used electronic components in garment equipment;
- Able to use basic information technology as regulated; exploit, process, and apply information technology in professional work in the industry;
- Able to use basic foreign languages, reaching level 1/6 in the Vietnam's Foreign Language Competency Framework; able to apply foreign languages in professional work in the industry.
