Skills Required Upon Graduation from Intermediate College Level in Ship Engine Repair

On February 10, 2019, Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by BLDTBXH regulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in mechanical engineering fields will take effect.

As per the Regulation on the minimum volume of knowledge, competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduation at the vocational intermediate level and college level in the repair of ship engines issued together with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum skills learners must achieve after graduating from vocational repair of ship engines at the intermediate level are as follows:

- Be able to read drawings, identify damages, calculate work volume, and choose suitable repair and assembly plans;

- Proficiently use tools and equipment in the maintenance, repair, and assembly of ship engines;

- Regularly maintain, periodically maintain and repair damages of some types of diesel engines and some related machinery installed on ships as per technical requirements;

- Operate diesel engines and some related machinery installed on ships correctly according to technical requirements;

- Inspect and evaluate the quality of products as assigned;

- Finalize and hand over products according to proper procedures, conformable;

- Handle some arising issues during the repair and assembly process;

- Control the impact of equipment on the overall environment;

- Organize and implement occupational safety and sanitation measures, and handle some first aid situations at working positions;

- Use basic information technology as regulated; exploit, process, and apply information technology in the professional work of the industry;

- Use basic foreign languages, achieving level 1/6 in the Vietnamese Foreign Language Competency Framework; apply foreign languages in the professional work of the industry.
