The equipment of ships operating in the Gulf of Tonkin must comply with the provisions of Article 6 Circular 06/2015/TT-BGTVT as follows:

1. The equipment of ships must comply with the provisions of the national technical standards mentioned in Clause 1 Article 4 of Circular 06/2015/TT-BGTVT.

2. Ships classified as Restricted Class III as stipulated in Clause 3 Article 5 of Circular 06/2015/TT-BGTVT, in addition to meeting the above regulations, must also satisfy the following requirements:

- The main engine of the ship must be equipped with backup lubrication oil pumps, backup cooling pumps, and backup air compressors;

- The ship must be equipped with 02 generator sets, each of which must have sufficient capacity to provide electricity for the safe operation of the ship;

- If a transformer is required to supply electricity to the ship’s equipment, the ship must be equipped with 02 transformers, each of which must have enough capacity to ensure the safe operation of the ship;

- The lifeboat rafts arranged on each side of the ship must have the capacity to carry all people on board.

To ensure the safety of lives on board and the optimal operation of ships in these maritime areas, ship owners must pay attention to the safety standards mentioned above to avoid unfortunate technical incidents.
