Regulations on Minimum Knowledge for Welding Industry at Intermediate Level

On February 10, 2019, Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) regulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in mechanical engineering and related fields will take effect.

In the Regulations on the Minimum Knowledge Volume, competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate level, college level in welding, issued together with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum knowledge that learners must achieve after graduating from the intermediate welding industry includes:

- Be able to present various machining, manufacturing methods for welding blanks;

- Be able to present the application scope of different welding methods: SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, etc.;

- Be able to present the principles, structure, and operation of welding equipment SMAW, GMAG, FCAW, SAW, GTAW, etc.;

- Describe methods for calculating welding policies and how to reasonably select welding policies;

- Recognize welding joint symbols and welding methods on technical drawings;

- Present and explain welding processes, selecting welding materials, and applying them in actual production;

- Describe the process for visually inspecting weld joints according to international standards AWS, ISO;

- Explain welding material symbols and basic material symbols;

- Describe basic knowledge about environmental protection, efficient use of energy and resources;

- Present causes and preventive measures for welding joint defects;

- Present basic knowledge about fire safety, explosion prevention, and first aid in case of accidents;

- Present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education as prescribed.
