In the regulation on the minimum amount of knowledge, competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduation at the intermediate and college levels in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning engineering, issued with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulates that refrigeration and air conditioning engineering at the college level is a field in which practitioners specialize in installation, operation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems such as: refrigeration systems in cold storage, commercial refrigeration systems, ice makers, ice machines, refrigerators; central air conditioning systems, localized air conditioning systems... meeting technical requirements, achieving productivity, safety, and meeting level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

People working in the field of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering are usually employed at specialized service establishments, companies, supermarkets, breweries, dairy processing, seafood preservation facilities; factories manufacturing refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, companies, corporations installing, maintaining, servicing refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

The main tasks in this field are: installing industrial refrigeration systems; installing commercial refrigeration systems; installing central air conditioning systems; installing Chiller air conditioning systems; operating VRV/VRF systems; maintaining, repairing automotive air conditioning systems; installing localized air conditioning systems; operating refrigeration systems; operating central air conditioning systems; maintaining - servicing refrigeration systems; repairing refrigeration systems; enhancing professional skills; organizing labor; communicating with customers.

The working environment in the field of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering often involves varying heights, contact with electrical equipment, pressure equipment requiring high concentration and specialized skills.

Minimum amount of knowledge: 2,475 hours (equivalent to 88 credits).
