Reduction of the retention period of aircraft technical logs according to the law in Vietnam

On April 03, 2018, the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam issued Circular 14/2018/TT-BGTVT amending and supplementing certain provisions of Circular 03/2016/TT-BGTVT, which revised Circular 01/2011/TT-BGTVT on the Safety Regulations on Civil Aviation in the field of aircraft and aircraft operation.

The time limits for maintaining the aircraft logs in Vietnam are stipulated in Circular 14 as follows:

Journey Logbook 12 months  
Maintenance Records 12 months  

Additionally, the retention period of aircraft technical logs is regulated as follows:

Total operating time of the aircraft and all components with lifespan limitations. 03 months after permanent withdrawal of the equipment.
Current status of compliance with mandatory continuous airworthiness directives. 03 months after permanent withdrawal of the equipment.
Relevant information about modifications and repairs on the aircraft and its components. 03 months after permanent withdrawal of the equipment.
Total operating time since the last overhaul of the aircraft or components with mandatory overhaul intervals. 03 months after permanent withdrawal of the equipment.
Detailed maintenance records to demonstrate that all maintenance completion requirements have been met. 01 year after signing off the maintenance completion.
