Satellite Image Reception Process at Satellite Ground Station (Illustrative Image)
According to Circular 39/2015/TT-BTNMT, the process for receiving images at the satellite ground station is conducted as follows:
- Prior to image reception, the following preparations are to be made:
- Check the readiness status of the equipment: antenna; antenna control equipment; frequency conversion equipment; signal detection equipment; frequency spectrum analyzer; signal demodulator, GPS equipment, wind measurement device.- Test run the antenna control system; check the technical parameters of the equipment after the test run and record the parameters in the logbook.- Check the equipment in the room, the operational status, and configurations of the reception, processing, and storage servers.- Review the image reception plan and the time synchronization between the antenna control system and the signal processing system.- In case of a conflict in the image reception schedule between satellites, seek the opinion of the ground station manager to choose the satellite with higher priority.
- Once the preparations for image reception are completed, proceed with the following steps:
- Receive and process satellite signals;- Evaluate the quality of remote sensing images;- Assess cloud cover extent;- Update the remote sensing image data catalog;- Backup remote sensing data at level 0;- Monitor and evaluate remote sensing image acquisition orders;- Report the results of remote sensing image acquisition;- Process remote sensing data from level 0 to basic levels.
Note that the processing of remote sensing data from level 0 to producible remote sensing images at the ground station is only performed upon the request of authorized personnel.
More details can be found in Circular 39/2015/TT-BTNMT, effective from July 9, 2015.
