Positions After Graduation in Engineering Surveying (College Level)

Recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs issued Circular 21/2019/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels for disciplines and professions in the fields of computer science, information technology, and technical technology.

To be specific, in the regulation issued along with Circular 21/2019/TT-BLDTBXH, it is stipulated that construction surveying is a field of work involving surveying, measuring, calculating, and creating terrain maps of areas, cross sections of constructions, monitoring the deformations of various construction works; marking borders, setting up constructions from design drawings to the field; performing measurement checks during construction, finalizing, acceptance, and handover of products that meet level 5 requirements in the national qualification framework of Vietnam.

- Individuals working in the field of construction surveying typically work in regions with varying natural and social conditions; frequently use high-precision equipment and tools; the job is collective and integrated with construction projects. Therefore, professionals in this field must have good health, professional ethics, and sufficient knowledge and skills to perform their duties.- Graduates with a college degree in construction surveying can work at design consulting firms, mechanical construction companies, transport construction companies, water resources and hydroelectric construction companies, civil construction companies, industrial construction companies, etc.- Minimum knowledge volume: 2,500 hours (equivalent to 83 credits).

Specifically, after graduation, students are competent to meet the job position requirements of the field, including:

- Establishing control grids;- Measuring and creating area terrain maps;- Setting up construction control grids;- Measuring construction cross sections;- Marking borders and setting up constructions;- Construction inspection and as-built drawing;- Acceptance and handover of products;- Monitoring construction deformations.

Additionally, the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that graduates must achieve in the field of Construction Surveying at the college level can continue to be developed at higher levels; graduates have the capability for self-learning and updating scientific and technological advancements within the field to enhance their knowledge or pursue further studies at higher levels in the same field, group of fields, or related training areas.
