According to the regulations on minimum volume of knowledge, competency requirements to be attained by learners after graduation at intermediate level and college level, in the technical field of refrigeration and air conditioning issued with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it is defined that the technical field of refrigeration and air conditioning at intermediate level is a specialized field focused on the installation, operation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems such as: Refrigeration systems in cold storage, commercial refrigeration systems, ice cream machines, ice machines, refrigerators; central air conditioning systems, local air conditioning systems, etc., meeting technical requirements, achieving productivity, safety, and conforming to level 4 in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Professionals in the field of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology are typically employed at facilities, specialized service companies, supermarkets, breweries, dairy processing plants, seafood preservation facilities; manufacturers of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, companies, and corporations specializing in installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

The main tasks of this field include: installation of industrial refrigeration systems; installation of commercial refrigeration systems; installation of central air conditioning systems; installation of local air conditioning systems; operation of refrigeration systems; operation of central air conditioning systems; maintenance of refrigeration systems; repair of refrigeration systems; enhancement of professional skills; labor organization; customer interaction.

The working environment in the field of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology typically features varying heights, contact with electrical equipment, and pressurized devices, requiring high concentration and specialized skills.

Minimum volume of knowledge: 1,665 hours (equivalent to 59 credits).
