New Regulations on Reducing Teaching Norms for General Education Teachers

Circular 15/2017/TT-BGDDT has been issued by the Ministry of Education and Training amending and supplementing several articles of the Regulations on Working Policies for General Education Teachers issued together with Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDDT.

Circular 15 has added 03 more cases where general education teachers will have their teaching workload reduced, specifically as follows:

- Homeroom teachers in primary schools will have a reduction of 3 periods/week, in secondary schools and high schools, a reduction of 4 periods/week.- Homeroom teachers in ethnic boarding secondary schools and high schools will have a reduction of 4 periods/week. Homeroom teachers in specialized schools, semi-boarding schools will have a reduction of 4 periods/week. Homeroom teachers in schools or classes for the disabled will have a reduction of 3 periods/week.- Homeroom teachers in pre-university schools will have a reduction of 3 periods/week.- Teachers concurrently responsible for specialized classrooms will have a reduction of 3 periods/subject/week.- Teachers concurrently responsible for music, sports, school garden, workshop, equipment room, or library (if these tasks do not have designated staff) will have a reduction of 2 - 3 periods/week depending on the workload, as decided by the principal.- Subject team leaders will have a reduction of 3 periods/week.- Deputy subject team leaders will have a reduction of 1 period/week.- Teachers concurrently serving as heads of functional departments in pre-university schools will have a reduction of 3 periods/week.
