Minimum Skills for the Metalworking Industry at College Level

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (Bo Lao Dong - Thuong Binh va Xa Hoi - BLDTBXH) issued Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduating from intermediate and college levels in mechanical engineering fields.

In the provisions regarding the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that students must achieve upon graduation from the intermediate and college-level mechanical manufacturing program, issued along with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum skills required for students graduating at the college level in the mechanical manufacturing field are as follows:

- Organize and implement first aid measures for electrical accidents, fire and explosion, and other occupational accidents;

- Proficiently use measuring tools (angle ruler, caliper, micrometer, caliper, etc.);

- Correctly select cutting tools and appropriate fixture methods;

- Read and analyze manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings;

- Process parts using hand tools;

- Grind and repair cutting tools;

- Identify and classify manufacturing materials;

- Choose appropriate machine tools to process parts according to technical drawing requirements;

- Operate each type of machine tool correctly, following procedures and principles;

- Calculate processing allowances and select detailed processing methods;

- Calculate cutting policies for each step and each stage of operation;

- Select cutting tools for each step and each stage of operation;

- Choose and control the spindle speed and feed rate when operating machines;

- Process parts on universal machines and some numerical control machines;

- Assemble, repair, and calibrate measuring tools, fixtures, molds, etc.;

- Handle incidents that occur during processing, assembly, repair, etc.;

- Inspect and evaluate product quality;

- Use basic information technology according to regulations; exploit, process, and apply information technology in the professional work of the field;

- Use basic foreign language skills, reaching level 2/6 in the Vietnamese language proficiency framework; apply foreign language skills in the professional work of the field.
