Recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs issued Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate level and college level in mechanical engineering fields.

As stipulated in the Regulation on the minimum knowledge volume, competence requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from the intermediate and college levels in welding occupation, issued together with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum skills required after graduating from the college level in welding are as follows:

- Be able to read welding material symbols, welding joint symbols, and welding positions in drawings;

- Identify and select appropriate welding materials and welding policies according to the technical requirements of the drawing;

- Calculate, process, fabricate welding materials according to the technical requirements of the drawing, by manual methods and specialized cutting machines;

- Assemble welding structures in different positions as per technical requirements;

- Connect, operate, proficiently use various types of welding equipment, and adjust reasonable welding policies for different welding joint forms;

- Weld carbon steel plate joints in positions 1G to 4G, 1F to 4F, weld pipes 1G to 6G using SMAW, MAG/MIG, FCAW, SAW, TIG, OFW welding methods...;

- Weld joints by SAW welding method in positions 1F, 2F, 1G ensuring technical requirements;

- Weld some common alloyed steels, non-ferrous metals and non-ferrous alloys using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW methods and know how to handle heat as required;

- Repair faulty welds, correct worn out or cracked machine parts using various welding methods;

- Maintain equipment, tools, and implement fire and explosion prevention measures in the welding occupation;

- Organize and implement labor safety measures and industrial hygiene, fire and explosion prevention measures;

- Handle first aid situations for accident victims at construction sites;

- Apply environmental protection measures, efficiently use energy and resources;

- Inspect welds according to international standards AWS, ASME, ISO;

- Use basic information technology as prescribed; exploit, process, and apply information technology in professional tasks of the welding occupation;

- Use basic foreign language skills at level 2/6 in the Vietnamese Foreign Language Competency Framework; apply foreign languages in professional tasks of the welding occupation.
