According to the Regulations on the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from the intermediate and college levels in the ship engine repair sector issued together with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum knowledge learners must achieve after graduating in the ship engine repair sector at the intermediate level is as follows:
- Describe the structure and operating principles of diesel engines installed on ships;
- Present technical characteristics and compare the technical specifications of the components and assemblies constituting the diesel engines installed on ships;
- Analyze some causes of damages, ways to check, and repair common malfunctions of diesel engines installed on ships and several related types of machinery;
- Present the use, classification, preservation methods, and uses of raw materials, fuels, and other materials used in repairing and assembling ship engines;
- Present the routine maintenance and periodic maintenance procedures for main and auxiliary diesel engines installed on ships;
- Present methods for reading construction drawings, general layout drawings of parts, and assemblies of ship engines;
- Present methods for using various tools and measuring devices in the process of repairing and assembling ship engines;
- Present methods for calculating the labor and material volume for repairing damages and assembling ship engines;
- Present principles for selecting tools and equipment for repair and assembly work;
- Present organizational and management methods during the repair and assembly processes;
- Present methods for operating diesel engines and several related types of machinery;
- Recognize common issues and solutions during the repair and assembly processes;
- Present procedures for checking, evaluating quality, acceptance, and handing over projects;
- Present labor safety and hygiene regulations for fire and explosion prevention;
- Present knowledge of environmental protection during work;
- Present basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education as required.
