Recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs issued Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in technical fields of electrical, electronics, and telecommunications.

According to the regulation on the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the industrial automation industry, issued together with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum knowledge to be achieved after graduating in the industrial automation industry at the college level is as follows:
- Able to present the principles and standards to ensure electrical safety for people and equipment;
- Able to present methods for measuring and inspecting electrical and non-electrical equipment;
- Able to present the functions, operating principles, and applications of: various types of motors, sensors, basic electronic circuits; measurement devices, programmable controllers (PLC, microcontrollers), specialized controllers, electric-pneumatic control systems, switching and protective devices such as relays, contactors, sensors, etc.;
- Able to present methods for installing industrial automation devices;
- Able to present methods for programming the control of sequential, parallel, random processes;
- Able to present the operating principles, functions, and methods for programming movements for industrial robots;
- Able to classify industrial communication standards;
- Able to analyze basic control algorithms in industry: ON/OFF, PID;
- Able to present the meaning of setting parameters in common industrial controllers;
- Understand technical drawing symbols and conventions, specialized electrical schematics according to IEC standards;
- Able to present procedures for inspection, maintenance, and calibration of automatic control systems;
- Able to present labor safety rules, industrial hygiene, and fire prevention and control;
- Able to analyze the procedures and content for technical consulting and business in automation equipment;
- Able to present basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense, security, and physical education as prescribed.
