Introduction to the Transportation Engineering Technology Sector at College Level

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs issued Circular 46/2018/TT-BLD-TBXH stipulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate or college levels in various fields including materials, metallurgy, production, and other technical technologies.

According to the Regulation on minimum knowledge volume, competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the field of Traffic Engineering Technology, issued together with Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the college-level Traffic Engineering Technology sector includes occupations such as building construction, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of road and bridge works in mountainous areas, plains, industrial zones, etc., meeting the requirements of level 5 in the Vietnamese national qualification framework.

Workers in the Traffic Engineering Technology sector typically perform tasks such as geodetic surveying, road design, bridge design, drainage system design, road construction, bridge construction, drainage system construction, other auxiliary items construction, and completing bridge and road construction projects.

To perform these tasks, workers need to have professional knowledge and practical skills in the field of road and bridge construction; be capable of working independently with professional ethics, organizational discipline, industrial style; and have the required health to work in companies, factories, domestic and regional enterprises.

This sector requires workers to know how to mobilize, arrange, and organize machinery and equipment such as pile drivers, bored pile drilling equipment, surveying equipment, bridge girder erection equipment, roadbed and pavement construction machinery, etc. Only by doing so can they apply construction methods from simple to complex and implement new techniques and technologies in bridge and road construction.

Note that the minimum knowledge volume is 1,905 hours (equivalent to 72 credits).
