Introduction to the Mechanical Equipment Maintenance Sector at Intermediate Level

From February 10, 2019, Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) regulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in mechanical engineering fields, comes into effect.

According to the Regulations on Minimum Knowledge Volume and Competency Requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from the secondary level, college level in the field of system maintenance of mechanical equipment issued along with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the regulation of system maintenance of mechanical equipment at the secondary level is a field in which practitioners perform tasks such as regular care, monitoring, preventing breakdowns, handling incidents to maintain stable operation, ensuring reliability, safety, and extending the lifespan of mechanical equipment systems, meeting level 4 requirements in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework.

Professionals in Mechanical Equipment Maintenance work in mechanical workshops of companies, manufacturing enterprises; service units for repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment; customer service departments of units, companies, enterprises supplying mechanical equipment.

The main tasks of the profession: organizing, receiving, installing equipment, and transferring technology; monitoring the technical condition of equipment to detect, diagnose, and repair common equipment failures; performing regular maintenance, periodic maintenance, and repair; planning and monitoring maintenance; coordinating, participating in equipment management; advising on repair and replacement of equipment parts; mentoring lower-level workers after gaining professional experience.

Minimum knowledge volume: 1,460 hours (equivalent to 52 credits).

Additionally, after graduation, learners are competent to meet the requirements at job positions in the field, including:

- Regular maintenance of mechanical equipment systems;- Periodic maintenance of mechanical equipment systems;- Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems;- Restoration of damaged machine parts;- Installation of mechanical equipment.
