Introduction to Mechanical Equipment Maintenance at College Level

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (Bo Lao Dong - Thuong Binh va Xa Hoi - BLDTBXH) issued Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at the intermediate level and college level in technical mechanics fields.

In the Regulation on Minimum Knowledge Volume, Competency Requirements that Learners Achieve after Graduating at Intermediate Level, College Level in Mechanical Equipment System Maintenance Industry issued with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it is stipulated that the mechanical equipment system maintenance industry at the college level is a profession in which the practitioner performs regular care, monitoring, failure prevention, troubleshooting to maintain stable operation, ensure reliability, safety, and extend the lifespan of mechanical equipment systems, meeting level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Professionals in mechanical equipment maintenance work in mechanical workshops of companies, production enterprises; mechanical equipment repair and maintenance service units; customer care departments of units, companies, enterprises that supply mechanical equipment.

The main tasks of the profession include: organizing, receiving, installing equipment and transferring technology; monitoring the technical condition of equipment to detect, diagnose and repair common equipment malfunctions; performing regular maintenance, periodic maintenance, and repairs; planning and monitoring maintenance; coordinating, participating in equipment management; advising on the repair and replacement of equipment parts or details; mentoring lower-level workers after accumulating professional experience.

Minimum Knowledge Volume: 2,140 hours (equivalent to 76 credits).

Note that after graduation, learners are capable of meeting the requirements at job positions in the industry, including:

- Supervising the operation of mechanical equipment systems;- Regular maintenance of mechanical equipment systems;- Periodic maintenance of mechanical equipment systems;- Maintenance of CNC mechanical systems;- Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems;- Restoring damaged machine parts;- Installing mechanical equipment;- Managing the maintenance of mechanical equipment systems.
