Recently, the Government of Vietnam has signed and issued Decree 19/2013/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree 61/2006/ND-CP on policies for teachers and education management officials working in specialized schools, in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.

According to the regulations in Decree 19/2013/ND-CP, teachers when transferred to work will receive the initial allowance as follows:

Note: Teachers and education managers whose families move with them will be provided with travel and luggage expenses for accompanying members and receive a regional transfer allowance equivalent to 12 times the general minimum wage for one household at the time of taking on duty, as stated in the transfer decision.

The initial allowance and regional transfer allowance are only provided once throughout the entire duration of work in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions.

Thus, the initial allowance for teachers and education managers when transferred to work in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions is equivalent to 10 times the general minimum wage for one person at the time of taking on duty, as stated in the transfer decision.
