Guidelines on the Classification of Medical Equipment on Maritime Ships

On July 28, 2017, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 32/2017/TT-BYT regulating the medicine cabinet, medical equipment, medical guidelines on sea vessels, and health report forms.

According to the regulations stipulated in Circular 32/2017/TT-BYT, the medical cabinets and medical equipment on seagoing vessels are categorized as follows:

- Medical cabinets and equipment for Type A seagoing vessels are designated for vessels with more than 100 officers and crew members, undertaking international voyages longer than 03 days.- Medical cabinets and equipment for Type B seagoing vessels are designated for vessels with more than 100 officers and crew members, undertaking international voyages of up to 03 days, or vessels with 25 to 100 officers and crew members, undertaking international voyages.- Medical cabinets and equipment for Type C seagoing vessels are designated for vessels with 15 to 25 officers and crew members, undertaking international voyages.- Medical cabinets and equipment for Type D seagoing vessels are designated for vessels undertaking domestic voyages, or vessels with fewer than 15 officers and crew members, undertaking international voyages.- Medical cabinets and equipment for seagoing vessels transporting hazardous cargo are designated for vessels specially designed to transport highly hazardous materials to the environment, health, and human life.
