Guidance on Business Operations of Electronic Games with Prizes for Foreigners

On June 2, 2017, the Minister of Finance issued Circular 57/2017/TT-BTC amending and supplementing several provisions of Circular 11/2014/TT-BTC dated January 17, 2014, which provides guidelines for certain provisions stipulated in Decree 86/2013/ND-CP dated July 29, 2013 of the Government of Vietnam on the business of electronic games with prizes for foreigners.

According to the Circular, the amendment and supplementation of Circular 11/2014/TT-BTC aim to align with the provisions of Decree 86/2013/ND-CP as amended and supplemented by Decree 175/2016/ND-CP; notably:

- Regulations on enterprises granted investment registration certificates or business registration certificates with electronic game business activities with prizes or having authorization from competent authorities before February 15, 2017, are allowed to continue using old machines until they are replaced by new ones.

The Circular repeals Articles 9 and 10 of Circular 11/2014/TT-BTC with the following specific content:

- Regulations on manufacturers, suppliers of electronic gaming machines with prizes, and independent inspection organizations for electronic gaming machines with prizes.

- Regulations on technical conditions for electronic gaming machines with prizes.

Circular 57/2017/TT-BTC takes effect from July 17, 2017.
