Recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs issued Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in technical fields of electrical, electronics, and telecommunications.

According to the regulations on the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in the industrial automation sector, as issued with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it is stipulated that the industrial automation sector at the college level involves designing, manufacturing, and installing automated production lines; applying specialized software to program control, monitor and manage the production system, to enhance labor productivity, improve product quality, and release humans from hazardous and dangerous environments, meeting the Level 5 requirements in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework.

Professionals in the Industrial Automation sector will participate in research and design work at technology solution provider companies, consultancy and design companies, or work at companies that implement and install production lines; or directly operate and maintain automated production lines in plants. Additionally, professionals may work as sales personnel, customer service consultants for companies specializing in providing automation equipment.

To practice the profession, workers must have good health and professional ethics, sufficient specialized knowledge, and skills appropriate to their job positions. They should be proactive in solving tasks, able to communicate and collaborate in teams, organize and manage the production process, and provide on-the-job training to lower-level workers.

Minimum volume of knowledge: 2,365 hours (equivalent to 84 credits).

Note, upon graduation, learners will have the competencies required for job positions in the sector, including:

- Installing automatic equipment and systems;- Operating and monitoring automatic systems;- Maintaining and repairing automatic equipment and systems;- Providing technical consultancy and selling automatic equipment;- Designing, implementing, programming control using microcontrollers (embedded systems);- Designing, implementing, programming control using industrial controllers;- Installing, programming, and operating industrial robots.
