From August 1, 2016, Motorcycles Running Yellow Lights to Be Fined Up to 400,000 VND

This is the content stipulated in Decree 46/2016/ND-CP regulating administrative penalties in the field of road and railway traffic (effective from August 1, 2016).

The operator of motorbikes, mopeds (including electric motorcycles), motorbike-like vehicles, and moped-like vehicles who runs a yellow light will be fined from 300,000 to 400,000 VND (Point c Clause 4 Article 6 Decree 46).

Thus, this fine level has doubled compared to the current regulation (according to Point o Clause 3 Article 6 Decree 171/2013/ND-CP, which only fined from 100,000 to 200,000 VND for motorbikes running a yellow light).

Article 10. Traffic Signal System - Road Traffic Law 2008

...

3. Traffic signals have three colors, as regulated:

...

c) The yellow signal means to stop before the stop line, except in cases where the vehicle has crossed the stop line, it can proceed; in cases where the yellow signal is flashing, proceed but must slow down, pay attention, and yield to pedestrians crossing the street.

At the same time, many regulations on administrative penalties in the field of road traffic in Decree 46 are applied from January 1, 2017 (after the date the Decree comes into effect).

Decree 46 replaces Decree 171 and Decree 107/2014/ND-CP.
