Decree 14: Electrical works in Vietnam that are no longer in use must be treated

This is the content specified in Decree No. 14/2014/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s stipulating in detail the implementation of Electricity Law regarding electricity safety.

According to Vietnam’s current regulations, the power works, except for nuclear power plant, when no longer used, must be treated and managed under regulations of law on construction, environmental protection and other relevant laws.

Specifically, according to Decree No. 14/2014/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, the owner of works must do the following things:

- Gathering hazardous waste, ash, lubricating oil of various kinds left in the pipes, equipment, scavenge oil, caustic substances, ammonia, hydrazine, chlorine and strong acid, other corrosives and their solutions and treating them in accordance with the law on environmental protection;

- For the power grid, it must be dismantled to recover its structure and restore the initial state of the ground within 06 months after the power grid is separated from the power system.

- For hydraulic, it is required to restore the natural flow for the river (spring) basin.

The owner of works must plan the management, dismantlement and treatment for electrical works which are no longer used including the contents in Clause 2 Article 8 of this Decree and submit it for approval under regulations of law on construction and implement the approved plan.
