Criteria for awarding the Hai Thuong Lan Ong Prize for traditional medicine and pharmacy work for individuals working at medical facilities in Vietnam from December 14, 2024 (Image from the internet)

On October 29, 2024, the Minister of Health of Vietnam issued Circular 24/2024/TT-BYT amending and supplementing certain articles of Circular 16/2020/TT-BYT which establishes the standards and guidelines for awarding the Hai Thuong Lan Ong Prize for traditional medicine and pharmacy work in Vietnam.

Criteria for awarding the Hai Thuong Lan Ong Prize for traditional medicine and pharmacy work for individuals working at medical facilities in Vietnam from December 14, 2024

The criteria for awarding the Hai Thuong Lan Ong Prize for traditional medicine and pharmacy work by individuals at medical facilities in Vietnam from December 14, 2024 are as follows:

- Have at least 20 years of activity or work in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy, or the combination of traditional and modern medicine and pharmacy.

- Be recommended for the award by an agency, mass organization, political organization, socio-political organization, or professional-social organization.

- Have received at least 01 commendation at the level of ministries and central authorities, provinces, or central mass organizations, or at least 02 commendations from the Central Association of Professions in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy, or at least 05 commendations from provincial professional associations in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy, or at least 05 commendations from provincial departments and authorities, district level, and equivalent levels in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy, or the combination of traditional and modern medicine and pharmacy.

Additionally, the individual must meet one of the following criteria:

- Develop at least 01 remedy, treatment method, or technical innovation in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy that has been applied in provincial-level medical examination and treatment facilities and recognized by a specialized medical agency under the provincial People's Committee (Department of Health) or a specialized science and technology agency under the provincial People's Committee (Department of Science and Technology);

- Be the principal investigator of at least 01 scientific and technological task in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy, or the combination of traditional and modern medicine and pharmacy at the ministry or provincial level, or be the principal investigator of at least 02 scientific and technological tasks in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy, or the combination of traditional and modern medicine and pharmacy at the institutional level, or be a principal researcher in at least 01 national-level scientific and technological task in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy, or be a principal researcher in at least 02 scientific and technological tasks in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy, or the combination of traditional and modern medicine and pharmacy at the ministry or provincial level, which have been accepted with an evaluation result and classification of satisfactory and above.

Time for awarding the Hai Thuong Lan Ong prize for traditional medicine and pharmacy work in Vietnam

The time for awarding the Hai Thuong Lan Ong Prize for traditional medicine and pharmacy work is stipulated in Article 4 Circular 16/2020/TT-BYT (amended and supplemented by Circular 24/2024/TT-BYT) as follows:

The Hai Thuong Lan Ong Prize is awarded every 2 years and is announced on the anniversary of the death of the great physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac (on the full moon day of the first lunar month) in the following year.

Circular 24/2024/TT-BYT takes effect from December 14, 2024.
