Content of Traditional Vietnamese Architecture in Monument Restoration Activities

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism promulgated Circular 04/2017/TT-BVHTTDL on August 15, 2017, which specifically stipulates the content of traditional Vietnamese architecture in the restoration activities of monuments.

Accordingly, the content of traditional Vietnamese architecture as stipulated in Circular 04 includes:

- The history of formation and the factors affecting traditional Vietnamese architecture;- The layout of traditional Vietnamese architectural relics (fortresses, temples, mausoleums, pagodas, shrines, communal houses, temples, shrines, and other types of relics);- The architectural form of the relic works, decoration, color, and symbolic meanings, cultural significance of the decorative themes;- Interior arrangement of relics: layout scheme of altars, worship items, legal statutes, and other artifacts specific to each type of relic (temples, mausoleums, pagodas, shrines, communal houses, temples, shrines, and other types of relics); cultural significance of the artifacts and worship items;- Preservation of intangible cultural heritage associated with relics.
