On May 14, 2020, the Ministry of Health promulgated Circular 7/2020/TT-BYT guiding the standards and norms for the use of specialized vehicles in the health sector.
According to Circular 7/2020/TT-BYT, specialized automobiles used in the medical field are classified based on Article 3 of Circular 7/2020/TT-BYT, specifically:

Firstly, ambulance automobiles:
- Ambulance automobiles that meet the standards specified in Circular 27/2017/TT-BYT dated June 28, 2017, by the Minister of Health, regulating standards and use of ambulance automobiles;- Ambulance automobiles with special structures (vehicles with spacious structures equipped with machinery and medical equipment for intensive care and resuscitation on the vehicle).
Secondly, specialized automobiles with special structures used in the medical field include:
- Mobile X-ray vehicle;- Mobile eye examination and treatment vehicle;- Mobile laboratory vehicle;- Mobile surgery vehicle;- Blood collection vehicle;- Vaccine and biological transport vehicle;- Other automobiles designed specifically for medical examination, treatment, disease prevention, and testing activities.
Thirdly, specialized automobiles with or using specialized equipment for medical activities include:
- Specialized vehicles serving the healthcare and protection of mid-level and high-ranking officials;- Specialized vehicles equipped for technology transfer and direction;- Blood and medical sample transport vehicles, including: pathological samples, infectious disease samples, food samples, drug samples (including vaccines, biological products), environmental health samples;- Patient transport vehicles;- Forensic vehicles, corpse transport vehicles;- Vehicles carrying mobile spraying machines and chemicals;- Vehicles serving disaster prevention and rescue operations;- Vehicles for collecting and transporting organs for transplantation purposes;- Vehicles transporting meals for psychiatric patients;- Vehicles transporting specialized tools, equipment, and medical supplies in the infectious disease field;- Automobiles equipped with educational mock-ups, simulation models, teaching devices, visual aids;- Other automobiles with specialized equipment for medical examination, treatment, disease prevention, and testing activities.
