Classification of Damage Severity in Railway Accidents

Circular 38/2016/TT-BGTVT was issued by the Ministry of Transport on December 2, 2016, specifying the classification criteria for the extent of damages caused by railway traffic accidents.

The classification according to the degree of damage caused by railway traffic accidents is stipulated in Circular 38 as follows:

- Minor railway traffic accident: an accident causing injuries to 01 to 05 people or causing property damage valued between twenty million and less than one hundred million VND.- Serious railway traffic accident: an accident causing the death of 01 person or injuries to 06 to 08 people or causing property damage valued between one hundred million and less than five hundred million VND.- Very serious railway traffic accident: an accident causing the deaths of 02 people or injuries to 09 to 10 people or causing property damage valued between five hundred million and less than one billion five hundred million VND.- Particularly serious railway traffic accident: an accident causing the deaths of 03 or more people or injuries to 11 or more people or causing property damage valued from one billion five hundred million VND or more.
