Brief Introduction to the Garment Technology Sector at Intermediate Level

Effective from February 10, 2019, Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs governs the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in fields of materials, metallurgy, production, and other technical engineering disciplines.

In the regulation on the minimum volume of knowledge, the competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from the intermediate level, college level in the garment technology occupation, issued along with Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the intermediate-level garment technology sector is defined as an industry that meets human clothing needs with diverse products implemented from the process of research, design, production, cutting, sewing, finishing, etc., through an organized industrial production system, ensuring product technical standards, meeting level 4 requirements in the Vietnamese national qualification framework.

Individuals in the Garment Technology occupation can directly hold various positions in enterprises from producing design samples, developing technical documents, sample sewing, production implementation, participating in or managing sewing line stages, comprehensive quality control to ensure product technical standards. The main tasks of the occupation include: Designing production models, organizing production deployment to ensure product standards.

The Garment Technology occupation operates in a professional environment with modern machinery and equipment such as: electronic sewing machines, industrial interlining machines, modern ironing equipment, design software, pattern making, automatic layout plotting, etc., meeting quality standards and stringent market requirements.

Graduates of the intermediate-level Garment Technology sector meet level 4 requirements in the Vietnamese national qualification framework.

Minimum knowledge volume: 1,645 hours (equivalent to 55 credits).
