Brief Introduction to the Field of Consumer Electronics at the College Level

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) issued Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, and telecommunications.

In the Regulation on the minimum volume of knowledge, competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate level, college level in the discipline, and profession of consumer electronics issued together with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it is stipulated that consumer electronics at the college level is a discipline, and profession whereby practitioners specialize in performing tasks such as assembling, inspecting, repairing, maintaining, producing, operating, and exploiting consumer electronic devices such as home electronics, monitoring and warning systems, smart control systems, residential lighting systems, personal health care devices to meet technical requirements, ensure security and safety, and meet Level 5 requirements in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework.

Practitioners of Consumer Electronics work in production facilities, agencies, businesses, organize and run their own production facilities, or repair electronic devices.

To practice in the profession, workers must have good health and professional ethics, sufficient specialized knowledge, and professional skills appropriate for the job position. They should be able to work and handle tasks proactively, communicate and cooperate in teams, organize and manage production processes, and provide training to lower-level workers corresponding to the prescribed level.

Minimum knowledge volume: 2,500 hours (equivalent to 90 credits).

It is noted that after graduation, learners are capable of meeting the requirements of job positions in the discipline, including:

- Designing monitoring, control, and warning systems;- Producing and assembling consumer electronic devices;- Repairing consumer electronic devices;- Inspecting and testing product quality;- Consulting consumer electronic services;- Providing consumer electronic services.

Additionally, the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating in the consumer electronics profession at the college level can further develop at higher levels. Graduates have the capacity for self-study, and self-updating scientific and technological advancements within the profession to improve their level or pursue further studies in related disciplines or fields of training.
