03 Requirements for the National Defense Education Program in High Schools

On January 13, 2017, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 02/2017/TT-BGDDT promulgating the National Defense and Security Education Program in high schools.

The subject of National Defense and Security Education in high schools must meet the following requirements:

- After completing the National Defense and Security Education program, students understand the main contents of the history and traditions of the people's armed forces, national defense and security education, the key contents in some legal documents on defense and security; territorial sovereignty and national borders.- Master the fundamental issues of maintaining political security and ensuring social order and safety, the schemes and tactics of the "peaceful evolution" strategy, and the insurrection and subversion plots of hostile forces against the Vietnamese revolution. Based on this foundation, students develop an awareness of crime prevention and social evils in high schools; possess basic knowledge about civil air defense and skills to avoid various types of bombs, mines, ammunition, natural disasters, and fires.- Possess minimum skills in team regulations; infantry techniques and tactics; know how to use an AK submachine gun; apply individual tactical moves in military and security skills practice sessions; organize national defense and security education sports activities as prescribed.
