Where and when will the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 be held?
The Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 will take place from December 19 to December 22, 2024, at Gia Lam Airport area (Hanoi).
The exhibition will be open to the public for free from 1:30 PM on December 21 to 3:00 PM on December 22, 2024.
The opening ceremony will last approximately 1 hour; including 30 minutes for the artistic program and 30 minutes for the main ceremony. The highlight of the opening ceremony is the welcoming flight by the Vietnam Air Force, the martial arts performance by the Special Forces, and the Military Dog training by the Border Defense Force.
The number of aircraft showcased at this exhibition will be greater than that in the 2022 exhibition; it is expected that 10 SU-30MK2 aircraft will fly in the formation of 3-4-3, and 10 helicopters will fly in the formation 3-4-3 at the exhibition's opening ceremony.

What is the basic content of building an all-people national defense in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 7 of the National Defense Law 2018, the basic contents for building a national defense include the following:
- Developing a national protection strategy, country defense plan; researching and developing Vietnamese military art; building national unity and a strong political system.
- Building defense strength and potential; developing a strong people's armed forces with high combat readiness as the core for national protection.
- Building infrastructure and technical facilities; developing defense and security industry, military science, and technology; mobilizing scientific and technological potential of the State and People for national defense; applying suitable military science and technology achievements for nation-building.
- Developing and implementing plans to ensure national reserves for defense; preparing necessary conditions for defense mobilization.
- Building strong, comprehensive regional defense systems integrating national defense; strengthening defense and security potential in strategic, key, maritime, island, border region, and critical areas; integrating the people's national defense strategy with the people's security strategy nationwide.
- Developing and implementing plans and measures on information warfare, cyber warfare.
- Developing and implementing civil defense plans and measures nationwide.
- Defense diplomacy.
- Integrating defense with socio-economic development and vice versa; coordinating defense with security and foreign affairs.
- Developing and ensuring policies for the people's armed forces and relatives of those serving in the people's armed forces.
- Propagating and disseminating the Communist Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on national defense; implementing national defense and security education.
What are the duties of defense diplomacy in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 14 of the National Defense Law 2018, the provisions on defense diplomacy are as follows:
Article 14. Defense Diplomacy
- Defense diplomacy to implement the foreign policy guidelines of the Communist Party and the State, aiming to enhance the national combined strength for building and protecting the country, contributing to the cause of peace, national independence, democracy, and social progress in the world.
- Defense diplomacy duties include:
a) Establishing and developing defense relations with sovereign countries and international organizations;
b) Building and expanding friendly, international cooperation relationships; conducting defense dialogue; building, consolidating mutual trust, understanding, reliability, and solidarity between the Vietnam People's Army and the armies of other countries;
c) Participating in building and implementing bilateral, multilateral, regional, inter-regional, and global defense cooperation mechanisms for the objectives of peace, stability, and development;
d) Foreign information on defense.
- The principles, content, forms of defense diplomacy, and the responsibilities and powers of agencies and organizations are implemented according to legal regulations.
Thus, defense diplomacy duties include:
- Establishing and developing defense relations with sovereign countries and international organizations
- Building and expanding friendly, international cooperation relationships; conducting defense dialogue; building, consolidating mutual trust, understanding, reliability, and solidarity between the Vietnam People's Army and the armies of other countries
