What are State policies regarding volunteer youth in Vietnam?
Based on Article 23 of the Youth Law 2020 on State policies for volunteer youth:
Article 23. Policies for volunteer youth
- Volunteer youth are those who voluntarily participate in activities for the benefit of the community and society, in accordance with legal regulations.
- The state promulgates policies for volunteer youth as follows:
a) Establish channels of information for youth to access and participate in volunteer activities;
b) Develop programs and projects to deploy volunteer youth to work in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions, borders, and islands;
c) Encourage organizations and individuals to support youth participation in volunteer activities for the benefit of the community and society.
- The Government of Vietnam provides detailed regulations for this Article.
Thus, the state policies for volunteer youth are as follows:
- Establish channels of information for youth to access and participate in volunteer activities
- Develop programs and projects to deploy volunteer youth to work in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions, borders, and islands

What are tasks of volunteer youth in Vietnam?
Based on Article 3 of Decree 17/2021/ND-CP on the tasks of young volunteers and volunteer youth:
Article 3. Tasks of young volunteers and volunteer youth
- Young volunteers perform tasks as specified in Clause 2, Article 22 of the Youth Law.
- Volunteer youth perform the following tasks:
a) Participate in programs, schemes, and projects for socio-economic development approved by competent authorities, for which individuals voluntarily register with the implementing agency, with a duration of 24 months or more (hereinafter referred to as youth participating in programs, schemes, projects);
b) Engage in volunteer activities for the benefit of the community and society, voluntarily registered by individuals with the agency, organization, or unit organizing community and social volunteer activities (hereinafter referred to as youth volunteering for the community and society).
According to the above regulations, volunteer youth perform the following tasks:
- Participate in programs, schemes, projects for socio-economic development approved by competent authorities, for which individuals voluntarily register with the implementing agency, with a duration of 24 months or more
- Engage in volunteer activities for the benefit of the community and society, voluntarily registered by individuals with the agency, organization, or unit organizing community and social volunteer activities
